A community created to allow all science/engineering/tech professionals and enthusiasts to share what is cool in their world!
This new company was created with the idea in mind to give control of the group policies back to the creator of the group. Allowing me the ability to set the policies & rules without worrying about being removed from a platform if members say “controversial” opinions. I am all for different ideas and will not ban anyone who puts forth different thinking, as long as they aren’t harassing other members.
One of the main reasons I still have a Facebook account is for the Groups feature. Being able to build a community with individuals who are interested in the same things is amazing. FB Groups allows you to categorize your posts, organize events, and makes it easier to connect with one another.
For those of you who don’t know what Discord is, well, I think you are missing out. But it is okay because I didn’t have a clue about it until semi-recently. Think of a Facebook Group, but it is more informal. It has text channels that allow members to communicate more informally with one another. Additionally, it has an easy to use, voice lounge area where you can see who is in the lounge and drop in to have a quick or long chat. The hope is to utilize this voice functionality to discuss research or project together. Really cool!
